Perception of Teachers and Parents on the Benefits and Limitations of the School Subject The Digital World

Abstract

This work presents the ways of perceiving the school subject “The Digital World” by teachers and parents. The theoretical part of this work considers the purpose of this school subject, its origin, its study across the countries of the region, and the perceptions of teachers and parents. The main aim of this work is to find out whether there are differences in the perceptions of teachers and parents, and furthermore, whether those perceptions favor the benefits or limitations of the school subject “The Digital World.” In the empirical research, different techniques were used: the content analysis technique, the pilot study, and the scaling technique with assessment scale instruments for teachers and parents. The research was conducted on a sample of 118 teachers and 236 parents across the Republic of Srpska. The results of the research have shown that the perceptions of both teachers and parents are in favor of the benefits of the school subject rather than the limitations. Furthermore, there are no differences in the perceptions of teachers; however, there are slight differences in the perceptions of parents.
